TRICIA READE - Chair

Tricia was a member of the augural Waitemata Local Board (2010- 2013) and was instrumental in the setting up of the Friends of Symonds Street Cemetery Inc. She is passionate about developing Symonds Street Cemetery into an Heritage park of which all Aucklanders can be proud.

 

Lisa Rogers - Communications and social media

Lisa is a history buff with a background in art curation and social history. She is keen to increase public awareness of the Symonds Street Cemetery’s history and significance; and get more people involved in the practicalities of its upkeep.

GARRY LAMBERT - Researcher on SSC Graves

Garry assists with research on plot location as well as identification of graves. Garry is closely involved with assisting Auckland Council to develop a comprehensive database of all the graves and those who are buried in Symonds Street cemetery. You can contact us in order to reach Garry.

DELPHINE LOMAS - Advisor on heritage roses

Dephine’s knowledge of heritage roses makes her a very valued committee member. Delphine has been a member of Heritage Roses since 1990 which also looks after the Nancy Steen Garden, within the Dove Myer Memorial Garden in Parnell. She promotes “Old roses” through talks and working bees in the Cemetery. She also hosts overseas rose experts visiting Auckland.

LYNDA LUCAS - Auckland Council Liaison

Lynda has been involved with the cemetery since 2011 and was involved in the preparation of the ten year development plan. Since being involved with Symonds Street Cemetery Lynda has visited cemeteries in Sydney and Europe to research how other countries are managing their historic cemeteries. JOANNA RYAN - Committee Member

Joanna Ryan, a working mum, married with two children. I have been very interested in family research and have researched my paternal and maternal family histories. This has led me to the Symonds Street Cemetery where my paternal great-great grandparents are buried. Subsequently I was introduced to members of the committee and here I am.
